Heidi has extensive and versatile experience in domestic and international commercial arbitration. She has served as arbitrator.
Heidi serves as arbitrator in domestic and international arbitration proceedings that are not governed by the Arbitration Rules, the Rules for Expedited Arbitration or the Mediation Rules of the Finland Chamber of Commerce.
She has unique experience in arbitration from working as the Secretary General of the Arbitration Institute of the Finland Chamber of Commerce (FAI). In this role, she has supervised significant amount of arbitration cases, reviewed arbitral awards and advised in the application of the FAI Arbitration and Mediation Rules.
Before joining the Finland Chamber of Commerce and the FAI, she worked for more than 12 years as attorney and Specialist Partner at one of the largest Finnish law firms where she specialized in commercial dispute resolution. While working as attorney, she represented parties in disputes relating inter alia to mergers and acquisitions, shareholders’ agreements, supply agreements, franchising agreements, cooperation and other commercial and corporate agreements in various business sectors. In addition to dispute resolution, she adviced clients in general conflict and legal risk management, and avoidance of disputes, gave strategic advice and advice regarding commercial contracts and liability issues.
When working as an attorney, she was listed as one of Finland’s leading experts in the field of arbitration and dispute resolution in the international legal directories Chambers Europe, Chambers Global, and Best Lawyers. She is currently identified as one of Finland’s leading experts in arbitration in the legal directory “Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration”.
She frequently lectures on arbitration in conferences and seminars.
